When I was lucky enough to come across this once loved but since forgotten dining hutch, I had every intension of restoring it so that it could continue its’ life in someone’s dining room… however things don’t always go as planned… and that’s neither always a bad thing. 🙂
It dawned on me one day that this delightful piece just might fit perfectly in our ensuite… and after giving it a try, it did — the most PERFECT fit indeed — clearly meant to be, and meant for ME! This once dining hutch, is now our ensuite cabinet… and I am over the moon in <3 with it!
Our ensuite holds warm tones of cream, grey and a somewhat robin-egg blue. To hold onto that palette that I love and have no intensions of changing anytime soon (or ever), I chose my transformation colours accordingly and eagerly got to work:
- Cleaned piece thoroughly, and removed hardware
- Applied 3 coats of Country Chic Paint’s ‘All-In-One Decor Paint’ in the colour ‘Vanilla Frosting’ to the body and drawers
- Applied 2 coats of Country Chic Paint’s ‘All-In-One Decor Paint’ in the colour ‘Happy Hour’ to the interior shelves and hardware
- Lightly distressed areas for a sweet country chic effect with sanding block
- Applied 1 coat of Country Chic Paint’s ‘Natural Wax’ to the entire piece for a protective finish, followed by ‘Antiquing Dust‘ in the colour ‘Willow’ for an authentic-looking aged effect
Glamouring up, has now become a whole lot more glamorous for me! This addition to our ensuite is simply delightful. Here’s a very quick snap I took from my phone once I got around to getting the finished piece into our ensuite… it truly is a perfect fit, and was clearly meant for our home:
