🎶 Ooh, ooh, ooh
Ooh, ooh

Someday, I wish upon a star
Wake up where the clouds are far behind me
Where trouble melts like lemon drops 🎶

The month of February is never gentle on me. It is the month where I find myself struggling with winter blues… longing for Spring to arrive… and wishing for my small troubles to melt away like lemon drops. This piece in its’ BEFORE state is how you’ll find me feeling n’ pretty much looking in February. 😔

The top drawer was missing its’ frame… and the drawers that once existed behind its’ doors were no longer in existence. However… nothing a lil’ bit of TLC and creative upcycling couldn’t resolve! Deciding on colours for my transformation was an easy one!  Colours that would make my dreams that I dare dream of, really come true.  My dreams for Spring to arrive! 💛

While dreaming of Spring, my gentle transformation went like this:

  • Built a new frame for the drawer top ~ special thanks to my Farmer hubs for this step
  • Added shelving to what was once 3 additional drawers behind its’ doors ~ another step courtesy of my sweet Farmer hubs
  • Lightly sanded down entire piece ~ to best prepare for chalk paint adhesion
  • Gave entire piece a good vacuum and cleaning ~ while anxiously awaiting my next step
  • Applied 2 coats of Country Chic Paint’s ‘All-In-One Decor Paint’ in the colour ‘Vanilla Frosting’ to the entire piece (interior AND exterior) ~ the most charming farmhouse white
  • Applied 2 coats of  Country Chic Paint’s ‘All-In-One Decor Paint’ in the colour ‘Bee’s Knees’ to all areas of the piece with the exception of the top, accents, door fronts and interior ~ for a bright and cheery two-toned transformation
  • Sanded entire piece down (copiously in chosen areas where I wanted the wood and ‘Vanilla Frosting’ to come through)  ~ to achieve a sweetly imperfected and farmhouse chic look
  • Applied Country Chic Paint’s ‘Grey Wax‘ to the entire piece ~ for added depth, aging and buttery smooth light protection
  • Applied Country Chic Paint’s ‘Natural Wax‘ to the entire piece ~ to tone down the ‘Grey Wax’ as desired, and for additional protection
  • Installed new ornately carved and antique brass ‘Chippendale’ hardware ~ Ooh, ooh, ooh… Ooh, ooh 💛

The month of March has now blown in, to say that Spring will soon begin! This upcycled and charmingly transformed  piece has certainly lifted my spirits, and lessened my winter blues.  A sweet lil’ farmhouse cupboard that is sure to melt away ones’ troubles like lemon drops. What a lovely Entryway Statement | Dining Sideboard | Pie Safe | Hallway Storage | Jelly Cupboard | Linen Cabinet | Kitchen Pantry | Nursery Furnish | Bathroom Cupboard | Bedroom Chest ‘she’ could be for YOU!  A gracefully aged, delightfully transformed and multi-functional piece that eagerly awaits ‘her’ next bright and cheerful chapter in ones’ home or cottage!

Ooh, ooh, ooh
Ooh, ooh
Somewhere over the rainbow
Way up high
And the dreams that you dream of
Once in a lullaby
Somewhere over the rainbow
Bluebirds fly
And the dreams that you dream of
Dreams really do come true
Someday, I wish upon a star
Wake up where the clouds are far behind me
Where trouble melts like lemon drops
High above the chimney top
That’s where you’ll find me
Somewhere over the rainbow
Bluebirds fly
And the dreams that you dare to
Oh why, oh why can’t I?
Well, I see trees of green and red roses too
I’ll watch them bloom for me and you
And I think to myself
What a wonderful world
Well, I see skies of blue and I see clouds of white
And the brightness of day
I like the dark
And I think to myself what a wonderful world
The colors of the rainbow so pretty in the sky
And also on the faces of people passing by
I see friends shaking hands saying
How do you do?
They’re really saying I, I love you
I hear babies cry and I watch them grow
They’ll learn much more then we’ll know
And I think to myself what a wonderful world
World
Someday I wish upon a star
Wake up where the clouds are far behind me
Where trouble melts like lemon drops
High above the chimney top
That’s where you’ll find me
Oh, somewhere over the rainbow
Way up high
And the dreams that you dare to
Why oh, why can’t I?
Ooh, ooh
Ooh, ooh
