Cowboys Are Easy to Love

Good Morning! For those of you who may think otherwise, cowboys are easy to love! This I know first-hand, with thanks to My Farmer. And it is this kind of easy lovin’ that has inspired my latest Country Chic Paint project. To be sure I’m being perfectly clear with just how easy it is to love a cowboy, let me sing you a lil’ song:

Cowboys ARE easy to love and they’re SO NICE to hold.
They’d rather give you a song than diamonds or gold.
Lonestar belt buckles and old faded Levis,
And each night begins a new day.
If you don’t understand him, an’ he don’t die young,
He’ll prob’ly just ride away.

For those that know me well, you know I love me a “little” Willie Nelson… okay maybe more than a “little”! In all honesty… I can’t get me enough Willie. Loving Willie most certainly comes easy too! <3

Here’s the thing… we all know of the monumental “Mamas Don’t Let Your Babies Grow Up to Be Cowboys” song… if you don’t — where have you been?!  My version of the song however, is a lil’ different.

Don’t get me wrong… I’m not sayin’ that Ed & Patsy Bruce got this song all wrong when they wrote the lyrics in 1975… I’m jus’ sayin’, that they may have wanted to consider a slightly altered narrative. This mama would most definitely let her babies grow up to be a cowboy and a cowgirl!

Mamas, DO let your babies grow up to be cowboys.
Don’t let ’em BE DOCTORS AND LAWYERS AND SUCH.
LET ‘EM pick guitars AND drive ’em old trucks.
Mamas DO let your babies grow up to be cowboys.
‘Cos they’ll ALWAYS COME home and they’re NEVER alone.
Even WHEN FARM WORK IS A LOT OF.

AND… to be sure I’m being perfectly clear with just how easy it is to #antique furniture… take a look at what I crafted over the past weekend (amidst my easy loving).

For these pieces I chose the following Country Chic Paint colours and products:

• “Elegance” (mudroom bench) all-in-one decor paint
• “Cheesecake” (peninsula stools) all-in-one decor paint
• “Natural Wax” and “Antiquing Wax”

My process:

• Setting sun, Willie Nelson and red wine 😉
• Rising sun, Willie Nelson and coffee 😉
• Lightly sand down pieces
• Apply decor paint
• Distress with sand block
• Apply natural wax
• Apply antiquing wax

Do things to make you think he’s right.

Who doesn’t like smokey old pool rooms, clear mountain mornings, little warm puppies and children and girls of the night?! And who doesn’t want a little (or a lot of) country chic character and sweet imperfections  added to their home?!
