Somewhere along the way, we decided we wanted to do it all and do it all perfectly. We uphold the perfect image, raise perfect children, and chase perfect dreams on perfect journeys. But chasing perfect has left us exhausted and empty. By slowing down and making intentional choices to simplify, we can choose what matters and step off the hamster wheel. Grace Not Perfection is a life-giving standard that allows joy — real, flawed, messy joy — to find us in the beautiful mess of life. — Emily Lee
You said it Emily! I can be guilty of wanting to do it all, and trying to do it all perfectly at times! Too many times in fact! I however am doing my VERY best to do my best — while accepting that it won’t always be perfect, nor does it need to be perfect. Staying honest, working hard, living simpler, and oh so VERY happy! — Faye Fossay
A lovely gal I know was kind enough to pass on this sweetly imperfect dresser to me. She was moving, and needed to clear stuff out, and she thought of me. Yes, there are plenty good and kind people in this world! Thank you Adrienne! <3
My girl Jenn was in need of a tallboy dresser for her bedroom, and I knew this one would be just RIGHT for her!
Although this piece has sat in my queue for quite some time, I knew the right time would come to transform her. Jenn requested a clean, vibrant and durable finish, and that is what I gave her:
- Removed hardware and gave piece a good cleaning ~ with good ol’ water and vinegar
- Applied 2 coats of Country Chic Paint’s ‘All-In-One Decor Paint’ in the colour ‘Jitterbug’ ~ Jenn’s and my favourite deep, muted teal
- Applied 2 coats of Country Chic Paint’s ‘Tough Coat‘ ~ for top-notch protection
- Installed new hardware ~ to add a sweet touch to this sweetly imperfect piece
Tonight I’ll be lining the drawers with a lovely adhesive product, to match with an earlier lowboy dresser I transformed for Jenn’s room.
Indeed a dresser of grace, not perfection. A dresser that will allow my girl a life-giving standard that allows joy — real, flawed, messy joy — in her beautiful mess of life. <3
