Our boys’ bedroom was in MUCH need of a refresh! A refresh that could very easily cost us a bundle OR cost us very little. I prefer the latter myself, so that’s what we rolled with! 😉
- I started off with giving his walls a fresh new coat of paint…
- Ripped out the dirty old carpet…
- Transformed his useless closet to a useful one…
- Installed our very own softwood floors (watch for blog post on that project soon)…
- Painted baseboards and reinstalled…
- Got to work at transforming this tired tallboy dresser…
My transformation process:
- Removed peeling veneer from top ~ quite easily with a new technique I’ve learned
- Wood-filled and sanded chipping veneer on drawers ~ this used to deter me, but I’ve since got over that fear
- Lightly sanded down ~ to best prepare for chalk paint adhesion
- Vacuumed and cleaned ~ final prep before the real fun begins
- Applied 2 coats of Country Chic Paint ‘All-In-One Decor Paint’ in the colour ‘Liquorice’ ~ quite simply the most perfect shade of black
- Lightly sanded down for a buttery smooth and distressed finish ~ for a delightful farmhouse chic look
- Applied 2 coats of Country Chic Paint ‘Hemp Oil’ to the entire piece for a protective and water-resistant surface ~ 100% all-natural sustainably sourced from Canadian farmers
- Removed industrial caster wheels ~ so not pretty… ewwww
- Purchased and installed new hardware from Lee Valley ~ one of my fav places to shop
#THERAPEUTIC y’all! That’s what furniture flippin’ is for me! And it’s simply AMAZING what a lil’ of my love, Country Chic Paint products, n’ some new hardware can do to a tired piece! Along w/ a fresh coat of paint on the walls, a new DIY softwood floor, a coming-soon transformed bedside table, n’ a few lil decor touches… this dresser will revitalize our boys’ bedroom just perfectly. 👌🏻
